Terconazole (Terazol-3, Terazol-7)

Category:

  • Antifungal

Description:

  • Vaginal antifungal

Indications:

  • Vaginal Candidiasis (yeast infection)

Contraindications:

Known sensitivity to Terconazole

Precautions:

  • Pregnancy category C

  • If condition worsens, inform patient to notify health care provider.

  • Clean applicator after each use with mild soap and water.

  • Insert applicator high into vaginal cavity (except in pregnancy)

  • Refrain from intercourse during treatment.

  • Use continually, even during menstruation.

Adverse Reactions (Side Effects):

  • Headache (21-30%)

  • Dysmenorrhea (6%)

  • Genital pain (4%)

  • Vulvovaginal burning, itching and irritation  

Dosage:

Vaginal suppository:

  • Insert 1 suppository intravaginally qhs for 3 days

Vaginal Cream:

  • 0.4% (Terazol-7): Insert 1 applicatorful intravaginally qhs for 7 days

  • 0.8% (Terazol-3): Insert 1 applicatorful intravaginally qhs for 3 days
