General Biographical Description: | Bryna Harwood is currently a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Illinois at Chicago where she is Director of both the Section of Family Planning and the Family Planning Fellowship. In January 2008, Dr Harwood was named a scholar in the Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women’s Health (BIRCWH) program funded by the National Institutes of Health in January 2008. Dr Harwood graduated from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and completed a Fellowship in Contraceptive Research and Family Planning and a Masters degree in Epidemiology at the University of Southern California. Dr Harwood has a long history of collaboration and leadership on clinical trials on the safety and efficacy of new methods of contraception and evaluation of gynecologic safety in microbicide trials. Now at the University of Illinois at Chicago, she continues to conduct and promote research that ultimately results in fewer unplanned pregnancies and healthier women.
