General Biographical Description: Mrs Caroline Overton, MBBS, MD, FRCOG, FHEA, is a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, St Michael’s University Hospital, Bristol. She spent three years with the Nuffield Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology in Oxford researching Endometriosis and pain which led to the award of an MD. While at University College in London, she subspecialised in Reproductive Medicine & Laparoscopic surgery. In Bristol since 2003, she is head of Department for emergency gynaecology and early pregnancy care. Nationally she is secretary to the Association of Early Pregnancy Units and chairs the guidelines Committee at the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists which produces national guidelines for practice in the UK.

Special Interests: Endometriosis, laparoscopic surgery, early pregnancy problems and gynaecological scanning.
