General Biographical Description: Ellen W. Freeman, PhD, directs the research unit of Human Behavior and Reproduction in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Pennsylvania Medical School. She has directed the Premenstrual Syndrome Program at the University of Pennsylvania, which aims to identify effective treatments and improved diagnostic criteria for the clinical disorder of premenstrual syndrome, since its inception in 1993. Dr. Freeman has authored numerous scientific articles and book chapters on premenstrual syndromes, the menopausal transition, infertility, teenage pregnancy, and a book on behavioral and psychosocial factors in early childbearing.
